We are recruiting for a Senior Risk Management/Loss Control Consultant to join our team. This role will sit remote in the Phoenix, AZ area.
Position Summary:
Performs insurance risk management surveys on complex risk, to attain policy holder risk improvement through reduction of safety hazards. Promotes markets and otherwise advances the Company through relationships with their exclusive or dedicated Partners for Success® (PFS) Agency and their clients.
Responsibilities:
- Execute consultative risk management surveys at policyholders’ premises and develop loss prevention program recommendations based on observations made during the survey.
- Collaborate with underwriters to provide risk management risk recommendations and participate with underwriting and claims in complex risk new business acquisition and account retention.
- Conduct training sessions for the policyholder in loss prevention techniques.
- Promote markets and otherwise advances the Company through relationships with their exclusive or dedicated agency and their clients.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to assigned PFS agent(s) on risk management matters.
- Mentor and train other risk management consultants.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management or a related field, preferred.
- CSP, ARM or CHSM designation preferred.
- 5 years of experience in safety, risk management or engineering.
- Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.
- Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to travel daily, which includes driving between local and long distance locations.
- Occasional overnight travel up to 20%.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Health and Safety Manager – EPCOR

We are hiring a Manager, Health & Safety to work at one of our multiple Phoenix metro area locations.
This individual will report to the Senior Manager, Health & Safety, and will manage a team of four health & safety professionals to proactively work with EPCOR operations to mitigate and remove unsafe conditions or practices. Additionally, this individual will ensure achievement of goals and objectives by developing and implementing health and safety programs that optimize safety for the company’s employees and minimize the company’s exposure to loss.
What you’d be responsible for:
- Manage daily aspects of health and safety for utility operations and high profile construction projects.
- Provide ongoing health, safety and risk assessment and oversight for all Regulated US Operations.
- Provide leadership to direct report employees. Mentor/coach employees by developing techniques to better communicate, collaborate, coordinate/organize workload activities, and instill cooperation among team workers. Implement standards of accountability, evaluate employees’ performance, recognize their achievements and counsel as necessary.
- Oversee the reporting, investigation, and record keeping for all Workers’ Compensation, Automobile Liability, General Liability, and Property Damage claims initiated against or on behalf of the company.
- Develop programs to improve the health, safety and risk function of the company, which includes security and emergency preparedness to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct safety audits/inspections to identify hazards, to maintain compliance with regulatory statues/standards, and to implement industry best practices for continual improvement. Report all findings to responsible parties and EPCOR management and offer appropriate recommendations for remediation, corrective action and follow-up.
- Collect data and interprets information related to loss exposures, accident trends, and develop statistical data for evaluating effectiveness of existing programs.
- Evaluate new technologies and review the technical and scientific publications to determine potential for enhancing existing safety/loss control programs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
What’s required to be successful:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety or related field preferred and/or 8-10 years of relevant experience in health and safety and loss control in water utility industry or related industry.
- Highly effective collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner to achieve project goals. Experience in leading a Health & Safety staff and managing project deliverables.
- Experience conducting safety audits, Job Hazard Assessments, injury & incident investigations.
- Recognized occupational safety certification (CSP, CHMM, CIH, etc.) certification preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills. SharePoint experience a plus.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to assess health & safety hazards and make sound recommendations for appropriate hazard reduction & control.
- Understanding of instructional design concepts and adult learning.
- Knowledge of Loss Control Practices. Knowledge of Federal/State OSHA, DOT, & EPA Regulations and insurance procedures.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem & conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to present information or respond to inquiries from management, staff, vendors, and contractors.
- Thorough understanding of safety technologies.
