ADOSH Finalizes Adoption of Federal OSHA Silica Standard
On July 23, 2018, Arizona adopted the updated OSHA silica standard. This applies to both the General Industry and Construction industries. In an effort to promote a proactive approach to compliance, ADOSH is encouraging all employers to contact our free Consultation program. The Consultation unit maintains Industrial Hygienists who are ready to identify and help with mitigation. You can view the entire press release here.
Congratulations to Arizona for obtaining a Bronze Chapter WISE Distinction Award!!
Your chapter was 1 of 6 chapters receiving an award this year.
Lesli Johnson and Karen LaRue presented the awards at the ASSE PDC – WISE Networking Event. We presented one award for the team and provided certificates to each of the primary Chapter WISE team members who make everything happen for your chapter. Attached are the photos from the networking event and the PPT shared with ASSP for their e-newsletter.
Thank-you for your support Lesli and Karen!
Workers Memorial Day Poem
In order to honor those who have suffered and died on the job and to renew our efforts for safe workplaces, Melissa Schmaltz has written this short poem.
Treasured Memories
To remember in a day
All the workers gone away
All the mothers, all the fathers,
All of those who came before us.
It is too much.
It is all wrong.
It is a crutch.
It takes too long.
It doesn’t do to just remember,
To look back and sigh and simmer…
Instead, we could stand up and fight,
And knowledge in others we could ignite.
Protect yourself and those around you
From being a story of what NOT to do.
Stop our friends, our families, and our loved ones
From being a memory, even a treasured one.
