Guest Speaker: Kevin Lopez

Bio and Current Role: Kevin Lopez has a career spanning over 13 years in construction safety, occupational medicine, and emergency medicine. Beginning his journey in emergency medicine in South Central Los Angeles, Kevin developed his ability to perform under pressure while focusing on protecting and improving lives.

Currently serving as the Safety Director at DP Electric, Inc., Kevin has played a key role in the company’s growth, overseeing its expansion from 380 employees to 1,100 employees across two states within four years. At DP Electric, he leads a team of 20 full-time safety professionals, fostering education and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

In this technical session, Kevin Lopez will delve into the challenges associated with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and share actionable insights from his organization’s journey toward enhancing electrical safety. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the common obstacles that organizations face in implementing effective LOTO practices, including training gaps, equipment-specific complexities, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Kevin will highlight the innovative strategies his team has employed to address these issues, ensuring that de-energization is conducted safely and effectively.
