In this session, Lisa shares how her approach to workplace injuries has shifted from focusing solely on treatment to prioritizing the human response that shapes the entire outcome. She discusses how the first few minutes with an injured worker—what is said, how it’s said, and the tone that’s set—can reduce fear, build trust, and prevent cases from escalating unnecessarily. By using calm, supportive language and intentional body-language, employees feel safe, heard, and willing to be transparent, which leads to better decisions and cleaner documentation.
Lisa will also demonstrate a brief “careful conversation” technique used during the initial injury interaction and show how this human-first approach directly influences measurable results: fewer referrals, reduced claims, faster return-to-work, and stronger trust between employees and leadership. The session highlights how empathy, clarity, and connection in the moment that matters most can transform both safety culture and business outcomes.
