June Technical Webinar/Meeting

  • June Technical Meeting
     June 4, 2021
     11:30 am - 1:00 pm
1. Presentation title: Hazardous and Solid Waste Overview: Violations & Safety
2. Presentation Abstract including 3 learning objectives for participants:  One of the most emphasized practices of workplace safety is to remove the hazard from an environment where people work or remove the employees from the environment where the hazard exists. The likelihood of an environmental and/or human health hazard occurring at a facility can be greatly reduced by implementing thoughtful design in conjunction with the adherence of standard practices. ADEQ provides a number of critical services which include but are not limited to permitting and inspecting facilities in order to verify compliance with both state and federal rules, regulations, and statutes. Compliance inspections can be one of the most effective methods of identifying and addressing potential safety concerns in a timely manner. In this presentation, we will review what ADEQ has found to be top and/or common environmental violations that may be encountered at Hazardous and Solid Waste facilities. We will examine these environmental violations and understand how they may result in additional safety concerns. Lastly, we will discuss ways to mitigate those safety concerns by addressing the root causes of environmental violations.
