AZASSP October Technical Meeting
October 4, 2024
11:30 am - 2:00 pm
This month’s presenter is James Harrald, CSP, from 3M’s Fall Protection Sales Executive, Personal Safety Division
Topic: MEWP Rules of Engagement – How to Navigate Regulations and Opinions
One of the best pieces of equipment available can also lead to some of the most confusing discussions around safety and proper use. During this session we will discuss some of the top challenges, misconceptions and mistakes that can be made when operating lifts. My hope is to have an open discussion on challenges faced and resources to solve them.
- Attendees will gain resources to evaluate applications to make sound assessments of regulations, site specific and manufacturer guidelines related to fall protection in MEWP’s.
- We will discuss training requirements from OSHA, MSHA and manufacturers and how to implement them into your plan
- There will be a brief review of the OSHA stance on MEWP’s and how to find the materials
- The goal will be to unify the industry on best practice when operating lifts and how to not only train your team, but how to convey the plan to controlling contractors and owners.
