Safety and Health Officer – Overley’s

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and maintain safety plans, policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal OSHA guidelines as well as DOT regulations
  • Oversee worker’s compensation issues and manage open cases
  • Maintain DOT compliance for all drivers and trucks
  • Maintain legal compliance with state and federal agencies
  • Assist with new-hire training
  • Maintain company random drug-testing pool
  • Plan and prepare bi-weekly employee safety meeting agenda
  • Oversee company safety committee
  • Plan and execute job-site safety inspections
  • Help with pre-qualification packets and vendor setup packets
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years experience with a company in the environmental services industry
  • Knowledge of Confined Space, HAZCOM, P.P.E., HAZWOPER, SDS, MSHA, Fall protection, etc.
  • Strong understanding of all laws and protocols related to hazardous waste management and disposal
  • Ability to produce appropriate safety plans and programs as needed
  • Understanding of worker’s comp rules and regulations as well as OSHA rules for recordable incidents
  • Ability to interact with operations team to ensure that safety policies are appropriately followed
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office products
  • Willingness to be available as needed when safety issues arise
