EHS Manager – Beverage Manufacturer

Position Title: EHS Manager

Department: Production

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Job Description: Supports operations by assisting in the coordination of EHS programs, policies and oversight.

Salary: $80-90K.

Location: Northwest Phoenix area

Job Qualifications:

  • 3 years of related EHS management job experience
  • Ability to apply standard production techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner
  • Deep Understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Degree in safety management or relevant field is preferred
  • Extensive Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies
  • Professional EHS Certifications are preferred (CIH, CSP, CHMM, and/or PE)

Essential Functions

  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions
  • Achieves annual targets for incident frequency, severity and related cost reductions
  • Ensures required regulatory permits and conditions are acquired and met; submits reports to regulatory agencies
  • Interfaces with regulatory bodies (OSHA, EPA, State/Local Regulators)
  • Initiates, reviews, masters and follows all standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for area of responsibility
  • Develops and executes health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
  • Prepares and enforces policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
  • Conducts training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
  • Monitors compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
  • Inspects equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
  • Investigations accident or incidents to discover causes and handle workers’ compensation claims
  • Recommends solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
  • Reports on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
  • Establishes and maintains an employee relations climate of trust and confidence, promoting achievement of plant objectives
  • Effectively responds to directions during emergencies by understanding emergency procedures, equipment and systems as necessary; Implements contingency plan to the level required
  • Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Works in a manufacturing environment
  • This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
  • Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds
